This recipe is a great appetizer and is simple to make.
Peppers and an onion. I chose to use a red pepper and a green pepper. You could use any color or type.
Shredded mozzarella cheese and wonton wrappers.
Italian sausage. I used only 3 small links. You could substitute with chicken, tofu or whatever you like! I grilled the sausage but you could also saute or bake it. I just can’t turn down grilling in the summer time.
After the sausage is finished on the grill, I sliced it up in thin pieces.
Saute the peppers and onions in some cooking spray until the veggies are tender.
To cook the wontons, spray a cupcake pan and put the wontons in each cup. Bake at 350° for about 6-7 minutes until crispy and lightly browned.
Once the veggies are cooked, you have sliced the sausage and the wonton cups are ready, you just fill the cups with everything! I topped the bites with mozzarella cheese for a little added flavor. I put the bites back in the oven at 350° for 5 minutes until the cheese is melted.
